As a Destination Wedding Photographer I am able to experience events set in incredible locations around the United States. The wedding pictured took place on the beach in Honolulu, Hawaii. Elyse Butler and Matt Mallams were wed on Waikiki Beach on a Tuesday afternoon in April of 2012. The sun above shone brightly on the scene as the bride walked happily toward the area designated for the ceremony. Before her the waves of Honolulu rolled up to the shore and her future-husband waited patiently for her to meet him at the end of the sandy aisle. On the left side of the photo, bridesmaids line up in vibrantly colored dresses of blue, peach, and teal. Each girl excitedly greets the bride, Elyse, as she walks forward with her father on her arm. The bride is luminous in her flowing, airy gown, and she looks like a nymph appearing on the island shore. She wears a band of small white flowers around her head, holding her curled strawberry blonde hair in place. In her hands she holds a bouquet of flowers in bold hues of yellow, white, and pink. Elyse’s father smiles as he walks with his daughter, preparing to “give her away” to Matt. It is a cheerful snapshot at the beginning of a day that is filled with similar moments of sunshine and immeasurable joy. As a Destination Wedding Photographer for this breath-taking Honolulu wedding day, I was sure to capture each memory that was made, because those candid photographs are often the ones that couples cherish the most.
