Philly Jewish Wedding

A Philly Jewish Wedding combines the spirit of the Philadelphia area with the honor of religious tradition. The Orthodox Jewish wedding ceremony of Daniella and Sam took place on in August of 2010. It was a warm, beautiful summer day just outside of Philadelphia, with the couple joining in marriage at the private residence of Daniella’s father. The outdoor reception that followed was an intimate event, one that the happy couple and their guests would remember for years to come. This black and white image from Daniella and Sam’s Philly Jewish Wedding was taken during the reception on the lawn. In the picture, Sam is being joyfully lifted into the air by one of his friends as other guests look on in amusement. On the left side of the picture, Daniella’s family’s home stands proudly. The house is white stucco, with black shutters that appear boldly in the black and white coloring of the image. The lawn of the home is covered by loved ones of the bride and groom, all who have gathered to take part in this incredible celebration. Many of the men pictured wear a yarmulke, or kippah - the skullcap worn by Jewish males. Being a religious event, all of the Jewish men in attendance at the wedding would be wearing a kippah in reverence to the law and custom of Judaism. The scene on the lawn is jubilant, with people milling about to chat with old and new acquaintances. The occasion is a wonderful moment, full of laughter, love, and the blessings of life.
