I am a Hudson Valley New York and Connecticut wedding and engagement photographer. This gallery of engagement photography shows many engagement sessions I have photographed in the past five years. You will see engagement pictures from Connecticut, New York, Boston, and as far as San Francisco. I have been lucky to photograph sessions around New England. My favorite season to photograph in is the fall, and usually in early October. The beautiful colors of the changing leaves around Connecticut are a favorite for many couples too. Engagement sessions are a great way to get to the photographer better as well as get used to being photographed, and being comfortable in front of a camera, which is a first for most. We will get some great photographs as well as build a rapport with one another instead of doing this on your wedding day. You want to feel comfortable on your wedding day as we will be spending much of the day together. Engagement session pictures are also great for save the dates. Many couples send out save the dates to their friends and family. An engagement session is my chance to capture you two in love so you can share it with the world. It is an opportunity for you to see how I photograph and for me to get to know you better as a couple. It can be intimidating at first. People can feel awkward during a photoshoot, but you can be as fun and as elaborate as you want. It’s always great for me as a documentary photographer to keep the photos natural like I am tagging along on a date. You can use these pictures on save the dates, wedding websites, for a guestbook for your wedding day, to post them on social media such as Instagram, Twittter or Facebook, or use them in wedding day decor. I want you to feel at ease. The session should feel easy. Have your hair and makeup test done on the same day as your engagement session. This way, you get to see how it looks in photos and let your stylists know if there's anything you'd like to change. Locations for beautiful New York engagement photography are Central Park, Innis Free Gardens in Millbrook, Bear Mountain, Vanderbilt Mansion, Pepsico Structure Garden, Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Mountain, Bartlett Park, Victor C Waryas Memorial Park, Vassar College, Mills Mansion, Plum Point Park, Halsey Pond Park, The Hill, and Hurd’s Family Farm. Let’s go out early in the morning or late in the afternoon for that beautiful golden light or out in the autumn when the leaves have turned red, orange and yellow in parks in New England for a breathtaking backdrop. The options are endless for New York engagement sessions. In all New York locations you get a sense of atmosphere and can contrast beautiful foliage with the feel of the city. Central Park is one of my favorite places for an engagement session. In the summertime towards sunset it is packed with thousands of people. There are always spots to photograph there but if you want a low key engagement session, going out at 7am makes it your own place. Locations for beautiful Connecticut engagement photography include Elizabeth Park, Waveny Park, Bruce Park, Lordship Beach, Greenwich Point Park, Harkness Park, Gouveia Vineyards, Devil’s Hopyard, Mystic, and Yale University. Also think outside the box. What is more fun than going out in the snow to have a winter engagement session? One of my most memorable photos from an engagement session was just that. Photographing a couple playing in the snow. I don’t just take New York and Connecticut engagement pictures. I have photographed many in Boston, Rhode Island, Vermont and beyond.
